Kiddie Camp Counselor
The Role
The role of the Kiddie Camp Counselor is to take care of the child(ren) assigned to her, and ensure they are kept safe, comfortable, fed, and happy. This is to ensure that the mother is able to do her job in camp comfortably.
During Camp:
- The first few days will be an adjustment period to figure out the schedule and routine that works best for everyone. It calms down after that :)
- Hours are from breakfast until dinner time
- One break during the day as arranged
- Different families/children will have different schedules; it's not one-size-fits-all
- Meals
- Ensure the child eats breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to the mother’s guidelines of what the child can eat (if the child is nursing, bring the child to the mother to nurse)
- Schedule
- Children go swimming every day, either in the kiddie pool or the big pool. Kiddie camp counselors are required to go into the big pool with them
- For children aged 1+, following the schedule to the best of the child's ability is required.
- Shabbos
- Decreased hours, as arranged
- Participate in staff activities and trips
- Responsibility
- Communication with mother to ensure the child is happy, the schedule is running smoothly, and everyone's needs are met
- Refrain from interacting with campers during scheduled activities or whenever they need to be with their bunks
